Personal profile

Sam is a senior lecturer and specialist paramedic with experience in an NHS Ambulance Service Trust. She is a registered paramedic with the HCPC and has extensive experience in advanced life support, trauma care, patient assessment and management in the pre-hospital environment.
As a specialist paramedic, Sam has developed expertise in high-pressure environments, providing enhanced pre-hospital care and rapid response to medical emergencies. She experience has managed complex medical situations including palliative care and frailty with empathy and efficiency.
Within the university, Sam brings real-world experience into the classroom and she has a special interest in prehospital maternity care. She is the practice placement module lead for 2nd year students and uses her current experience of practice to help develop the students' independence and competence throughout their 2nd year of the programme. She also teaches on many of the modules throughout the programme, bringing real-world examples intertwined with in-depth understanding of biomedical science to enhance the students learning.
