Nikki is a Senior Lecturer in Speech and Language Therapy and specialises in teaching Learning Disabilities across the lifespan. Nikki worked as a SLT in the NHS and developed her own independent practice business before joining the team at ¸Ô±¾ÊÓÆµ. Nikki spent her clinical career working in pre-school complex needs, special schools, adults with learning disabilities in the community and SEMH settings. Nikki is the admissions lead for the programme and enjoys supporting first year students as they transition to life at Demontfort University. Nikki is the chair for Student Voice and collaborates with representatives from across the year groups and team members to ensure this is a supportive process for all. Nikki supports the teaching around Eating Drinking & Swallowing in relation to the Learning disability population on the programme too. Nikki is a Makaton Tutor and uses this in her teaching around clinical and professional skills for practice amongst other accessible forms of communication – you will likely see her signing her way around campus.
